Acetylene Welding Gas
Acetylene gas cylinder supply for welding, oxy-fuel cutting, brazing, and metal fabrication applications.
Acetylene Gas Supply for Welding & Industrial Applications
Havard Welding supplies acetylene gas cylinders for welding, oxy-fuel cutting, brazing, heat treating, and metal fabrication throughout East Houston and the surrounding Gulf Coast. As an experienced acetylene gas supplier, we provide fully stocked cylinder inventory, multiple cylinder sizes, and expert support for industrial, commercial, and manufacturing applications.
About Acetylene Gas
Acetylene (C₂H₂) is a colorless, highly flammable fuel gas composed of carbon and hydrogen. It is slightly lighter than air and has a distinctive garlic-like odor. Because free acetylene becomes unstable at pressures above 15 psig, it is safely stored inside specially designed acetylene gas cylinders containing a porous filler saturated with acetone, allowing the gas to remain dissolved under pressure.
Acetylene is produced through the reaction of calcium carbide and water, as well as by thermal cracking of hydrocarbons or partial combustion of methane with oxygen. In the United States, approximately 80% of acetylene production is used in chemical manufacturing, while the remaining 20% supports oxy-acetylene cutting, welding, brazing, and heat treatment applications.
Acetylene Gas Applications
Acetylene is one of the most widely used industrial fuel gases because of its high flame temperature and efficient combustion characteristics.
Oxy-Acetylene Welding
Produces concentrated heat for fusion welding, repair work, and metal joining.
Oxy-Fuel Cutting
Delivers high-temperature flames for cutting carbon steel and heavy plate materials.
Brazing & Soldering
Provides controlled heating for joining copper tubing, piping systems, and fabricated assemblies.
Heat Treating
Used for localized heating, flame hardening, straightening, and preheating metal components before welding.
Chemical Manufacturing
Serves as a raw material for producing acetaldehyde, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and organic compounds.
